My brother in law shared this poem that he had written at our family reunion a couple of weeks ago. I feel proud to be one of the six "Darger Girls" he refers to. We have been raised and taught by our incredible mother who has done an amazing job of raising a family of six girls and two boys. In spite of her many health challenges she has continued to love and serve everyone she comes in contact with. Thank you mom.

A STRING OF PEARLS

“Nature’s Gift,” the heading of the advertisement read.
“Nothing says ‘I love you’ like South Sea cultured pearls,” or so it said.
“Each one is a gift from nature as unique as the women who wears it.”
Ah, the women who wears it, there is where the real treasure sits.

That is God’s Gift. Beautiful and modest with a heart of gold,
Truly it is in the girl that God has given us his wealth untold.
And filled with values and virtues, the righteous example of their mother,
To me the Darger family of girls stands far above any other.

Think not with all this adoration, that I assign to her an exalted station,
But, because of her strivings within and with humble anticipation,
At some future day the master shall take away the little flaws,
And count these exquisite jewels with those who have been faithful to His cause.

To me, nothing says “I love you” like God saying “it is not good for man to be alone.”
We are so blessed by each generation of His choice daughters that are part of our home.
Through the years some may see, just a family with a lot of girls.
But, I know that each one is a gift of God to be treasured far more than a string of pearls.

Great Quote

Brent and I went to a bakery in Boise called Pastry Perfection after a Friday night date last week. They had a great quote at the counter and I had to share it.

"Did you know: All food may be bad for you, but a recent government study also concluded that not eating could cause death."

It made me laugh. (Yummy place.)

I have lost the blogging bug and I don't know how to get it back!
